data-mm-id=”_6czbb17qk”>The Chicago Bears inked Andy Dalton to a one-year contract worth up to $10 million yesterday, appearing to signal an end to their rumored pursuit of Seattle Seahawks superstar QB Russell Wilson. Wilson is not officially on the trade block by any stretch of the imagination, but Seattle is willing to listen to offers after Wilson openly called for the team to give him more protection on the offensive line. Given the issues the Seahawks have had in doing just that throughout Wilson's tenure with the team, it's not an unfair ask, but doing so to media rather than his bosses seems to have aggravated the front office. The Bears were the team most linked with Wilson after deciding to move on from Mitch Trubisky and boasting an elite defense. On the Dan Patrick Show today, Patrick revealed what Chicago was willing to give up for the franchise quarterback they've searched so long for, and it's a massive offer: three first-round picks, a third-round pick, and two starters at undetermined positions. About an hour ago DP was told that the #Bears offered Seattle the following for Russell Wilson:-Three 1st Round picks-a 3rd Round pick-2 starters (Was not told who those starters were) pic.twitter.com/lOgH2ZuLVC— Dan Patrick Show (@dpshow) March 17, 2021Man. That's probably the best deal the Seahawks will get for Wilson if they did want to trade him. Teams with top-10 draft picks this year are unlikely to offer them up for Wilson, given such teams are often not just a quarterback away from competing for a title. Wilson has many good years ahead of him but he isn't 25-years-old like Deshaun Watson, for example, and has a gigantic contract to take into account on top of all that. The Bears are just in the right spot to make such an offer; their best pieces on both sides of the ball are in their primes, and an elite quarterback is the difference between a first-round exit and a legitimate shot at a Super Bowl. Seattle likely turned the offer for that exact reason. Three first-round picks from Chicago doesn't mean that much when those picks are going to be in the 20s or worse. Even their pick this year is only No. 20, not nearly high enough to draft a high-level QB prospect in this year's draft. If the Seahawks trade Wilson, they'll want to rebound immediately. Pete Carroll and John Schneider are not in the business of rebuilding after eight years of playoff contention. They only trade Wilson if they know they can replace him with someone good enough to win games and get enough back in return to rebuild the defense. The Bears' offer, while enticing in quantity, wouldn't be enough to do that, even if Schneider somehow turned it around and used the picks to trade up or for a guy like Sam Darnold. Adam Schefter said on ESPN this morning that he's not sure Wilson will be in Seattle by September even with the Bears now out of the running, so maybe a team like the Dolphins or the Jets could still send over an offer that gives Seattle a straightforward path towards another potential franchise quarterback. But until they get such an offer, Wilson will stay put.

Real Betis legend and former Spain winger Joaquin will retire at the end of the season.
The 41-year-old announced on Wednesday he will call time on a career of incredible longevity when Betis campaign comes to an end.
Captain Joaquin made his Betis debut 23 years ago and returned to the LaLiga club in 2015 following spells with Valencia, Malaga and Fiorentina.
Only the great Andoni Zubizarreta has made more LaLiga appearances than Joaquin s incredible 615, with the ex-Spain goalkeeper playing 622 times in the Spanish top flight.
Betis have nine games remaining this season, so Joaquin could take that record, although he has started only once this term.

Though neither has hope of winning the Scudetto this season, history will be made at San Siro when Inter and Juventus meet in one of the Italian football s most famous fixtures.
Eighteen points behind Napoli, second-placed Inter are looking over their shoulders at those behind them in a tight fight for the Champions League places.
Had they not been deducted 15 points, Juve would be above Inter and firmly in that battle.
As it is, victory here is critical for Juve s slim chances of climbing into the top four — they are 10 points adrift of fourth-placed Milan — with both sides hoping the Rossoneri slip up at Udinese and Lazio and Roma play out a draw.

Ryan Mason is looking for Tottenham to pick up where they left off in Thursday s 2-2 draw with Manchester United when they visit Liverpool on Sunday.
Mason took over Cristian Stellini s responsibilities as acting head coach this week, with the Italian dismissed following a dismal 6-1 defeat to Newcastle United.
While Mason s second stint as interim boss started poorly as United raced into a 2-0 lead at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, a rousing second-half fightback saw Spurs clinch an unlikely draw.
Tottenham s failure to beat United may have killed their slim hopes of Champions League qualification, but Mason wants to see a similar performance at Anfield.
In football, negativity can spread very quickly, but so can positivity, he said.

Hungary are third with nine points ahead of their trip to minnows San Marino, and Finland are fourth with six, desperately in need of full points from their trip to Sweden to keep their hopes alive.

Alvaro Morata has his sights set on World Cup glory with Spain next year, even though he concedes it will be impossible to match La Roja s famous team from 2008 to 2012.
Spain won the European championship twice and the 2010 World Cup during that era of unprecedented success.
Real Madrid striker Morata is a key part of the squad targeting glory in Russia next year and understands the scale of the task facing Spain s new stars to follow in that team s footsteps.
For the new generations it is hard, even impossible, to compete with that side that won everything, Morata, 24, said in an interview with GQ.
However, all of us players in the squad have dreams of doing something great with Spain.
When I was a child I had dreams of winning a World Cup, s…
